We recently moved into a new area (new state really) and we put in a ADT monitored system. We actually went through a distributor of ADT. The system is monitored by ADT but the corporate office we did not purchase the system through. It cost me like $35.00 a month to be monitored and it was I think about 200 to 300 for the system. I have 2 glass breakage alarms, one in each child's room, 3 door alarms, a fire alarm, a remote control key chain with arm, disarm, and panic and a motion detection. I do like my system but I do not understand how they monitor. One time my kids will set the alarm off and they will instantly call us and the next time they never call. I say if the diy system is cheap enough find out about the monitoring company. My disappointment is with that not with my system. Good luck and stay safe. Wendy in S.C.

heyheyhey!!!!
prehistoric ones????
I have one !!!
lol
anyways, OF COURSE YOU CAN!
I'm assuming that you mean the dv tape ones right? the very small VHS things right?
if so, good, many people still use those, those are perfect for trasferring onto your computer.
First, I'm assuming that you have a firewire port in front of your camcorder right?
You need to buy a firewire, and hope that your computer has a firewire port.
I'm not going to ramble on because I might not understand the question, if I'm right so far, send me an email and I WILL help you get the job done

You can't download video via a USB cord which is all you got with your camera. You need a firewire connection, this means you need a firewire (ieee1394) card installed in your computer (relatively cheap and easy to install on a PC). Then you need a firewire cord (ieee1394) to connect your video camera to your PC. The USB cord you got with your video camera is for downloading stills, the reason you didn't get a firewire (dv) cord with your camera is because computers don't usually come with a firewire port. And your instructions that come with your video camera don't say a darn thing about a firewire connection. I know, it's just plain crazy.

set it up as master on secondary channel.
that way the video stream coming off the second disk wont interfere with windows running on the first disk.
